JKI scientists revise and update Organic Farming Portal
In 2003, the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI) contributed to the German internet portal www.oekolandbau.de with a specific menu item on "plant protection in organic farming". Here information about pests and beneficial organisms is displayed, including details on their manifestation, biology and regulation strategies. In recent years a lot of research has been done in the field of organic farming and new scientific results have been published. The JKI researchers have implemented new knowledge on the given topics.
Following chapters have been revised:
- beneficial organisms,
- pests in field crops,
- pests in horticulture,
- pests in fruit crops,
- pests in viticulture,
- weeds regulation,
- pests in stored product protection.
New information about the biology and regulation strategies was added. Some newly established pests and a new chapter on "medical and herbal plants" were included.
Available information about organic plant protection was improved and renewed. Based on comprehensive research, the solutions for practical application were updated.
