Organic farming
For an organic agriculture, the Julius Kühn Institute develops holistic concepts of plant cultivation and production. This is a long-term commitment in which several of its institutes are actively involved.
For instance, an important topic for organic farmers is an integrated pest management to prevent pests and diseases. Researchers are evaluating practices of plant protection in long-duration field trials. The plots are certified according to EC regulation governing organic farming.
